Orlando Information

FAQ

What is Scootaround’s Orlando “Meet and Greet Service”?

Scootaround’s special “Meet & Greet Service” is mandatory if you are staying on Disney properties. As part of this service, we deliver the device directly to you at any Disney World hotel or resort at a time of your choosing. This personalized service allows our personnel to give you an orientation with your rental equipment and ensures you are comfortable using your mobility scooter rental prior to venturing into the parks.

If you are staying elsewhere in Orlando or Kissimmee, we can drop the equipment off at your hotel in advance so it is waiting for you when you arrive.

What is the best mobility scooter model to rent in Orlando?

For navigating Orlando’s many theme parks, you can’t go wrong with a Standard or Heavy Duty Scooter. These devices have a superior driving range, allowing you to spend all day using the scooter without needing to recharge. Standard and HD mobility scooters are also slightly more spacious and comfortable than smaller models. However, if you’ll be exploring the city and frequently need to transport your scooter in the trunk of a car, you may want to go with a Transportable or Transportable HD Scooter instead. These models easily break down into separate pieces for portability and storage.

Call our rental specialists at 1-888-441-7575 to determine the right scooter for your needs!

Does Scootaround provide free delivery to Orlando hotels and resorts?

Yes, we provide FREE delivery to all locations within 25 miles of our Scootaround Orlando location. Minimum rental of 2 days.

Where do I store the Orlando mobility scooter when I’m not using it?

Please store the scooter in your hotel room, residence, or Airbnb whenever possible. Transportable and Transportable HD Scooters can fit through most doorways thanks to their thinner width and ability to disassemble. The hotel may also allow you to store the scooter behind the front desk in some instances. Be sure to call your accommodation in advance to determine what will be best.

How to Make the Most of Your Scooter Rental in Orlando

Known as “The Theme Park Capital of the World”, Orlando offers something for everyone, including world-class food, entertainment, and shopping. The city is constantly growing, which makes it a great destination for repeat visits to see what exciting new attractions have opened.

Orlando is generally accessible for mobility scooter users, and the city has made efforts in recent times to improve accessibility in public spaces and transportation. However, while the city has become more accessible, not all areas are equally accommodating. We recommend planning ahead and researching where you want to go to ensure they have the necessary accommodations in place for scooter users. Overall, however, Orlando provides a welcoming experience for all visitors, including those with mobility limitations.

If you're visiting Central Florida and need some mobility assistance, consider booking a scooter rental in Orlando. Mobility scooters (also known as "electronic convenience vehicles" or "ECVs") can make all the difference while you travel, allowing you to see and do more during the long days exploring the city's attractions. Scootaround provides mobility scooter rentals in Orlando, Florida and the surrounding cities, including Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista, and more. Below you can find more information about the accessibility of various venues and attractions in and around Orlando.

Want to reserve a mobility scooter or other rental equipment? Call 1-888-441-7575 or email [email protected]. When the rental is over, we will pick up the ECV directly from you at the hotel, Airbnb, or resort.

If you're looking to purchase equipment rather than rent, Scootaround also has mobility scooters for sale in Orlando.

Orlando Attractions

Everybody knows about the big theme parks just outside of Orlando, which include Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld Orlando – but did you know that the city itself has plenty of great attractions and experiences to discover? If you’re a first-time visitor to Orlando, here are four attractions you’ll want to include in your itinerary:

  • Lake Eola Park: A beautiful park located in downtown Orlando, featuring a picturesque lake with swan boats, walking paths, picnic areas, and a playground. It's a great place for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing afternoon.

  • Orlando Science Center: A hands-on science museum with interactive exhibits and live science demonstrations for visitors of all ages.

  • Orange County Convention Center: This massive convention center is in the heart of Orlando’s tourist district and is the second largest convention center in the United States. The center hosts over 200 events and 1.4 million attendees annually.

  • Orlando Museum of Art: Located in Loch Haven Park, this museum showcases a diverse collection of art, including American, African, and contemporary pieces.

These are just some of the local attractions served by Scootaround. If you’d like to enquire about renting a mobility scooter in Orlando, please call 1-888-441-7575 or email us for assistance.

Parking in Orlando

If you are driving to Orlando and have a disability parking permit from another state, you do not need to apply for a temporary permit during your stay. Florida currently recognizes all disability permits from other States.

International visitors require a temporary US parking badge which is valid for 90 days after purchase. This can be obtained at any Orange County tax office by providing the Disabled Parking Badge from your home country and paying a small fee.

With your disabled placard or your permanent disabled license plates, you may park in any disabled or handicapped parking space. These spaces should be clearly marked with an International Symbol of Access (i.e. Wheelchair Symbol) and outlined in blue paint. You are not permitted to park in areas marked with white hatch marks (near the disabled parking spots), any red (no stopping), yellow (commercial vehicles only), or white (passenger loading and unloading only) curbs.
